It’s beginning to look a lot like fireworks...
The temperature is dropping and we are seeing snow here and there in Winnipeg but it doesn't mean that fireworks season is over. Our store is open year round and we are starting to gear up for our second busiest season, Christmas and New Years.
The annual Santa Claus Parade ( http://www.winnipegsantaparade.com ) is this Saturday in Winnipeg followed up by a fireworks show at The Forks at 8pm to kick off the holiday season.
As we are booking more and more fireworks shows for new years eve our staff are busily planning their shows and checking them twice. A lot of work goes into the behind the scenes part of fireworks that most people never see. Hours of set up and days/weeks and even months of planning, preparing and designing fireworks shows and almost every here at the shop has some hand in the production of each show. From quotes and dealing with customers to picking the shells and equiptment to figuring out logistics it can be a difficult and time consuming process but the staff here, despite sometimes being a little sleep deprived, loves a good busy season. The satisfaction of a show enjoyed by thousands and a chance to get our hands dirty.
So the next time you are watching a fireworks show, be it a smaller show for a company bbq or a large scale display remember all the work that goes on behind the scenes and all the people who all had a hand in producing those few minutes of spectacular colour and light in the sky.
We have the coolest jobs in the world!
